Heated competition must’ve gotten the best of Los Angeles Clippers player, Austin Rivers, on Thursday. Rivers catapulted a seat cushion into the stands at the Sacramento arena striking a fan in her eye. Rivers stated, “The pillow was light and it just flew into the air backwards. I didn’t really look when it went into the crowd.” It was not proven that the fan was targeted, but Rivers was fined $25,000 and issued an apology to the fan.
He went on to say that it was not his intention to hurt any fan during Wednesday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings. They won the game 111-104. It’s unclear why the cushion was thrown, but Coach Doc Rivers and Austin appear to be very apologetic regarding the incident.
