Carolina Panthers Headed Down a Dangerous Path

Why are the Carolina Panthers 1-4 after a season that can be deemed as a modern “Cinderella story”? We have a bit of insight – defense. In just one season the Panthers’ defense has gone from top of the line to clearly not making the finish line.

The cause may stem from bad resources and pre-season decisions. The Panthers let Josh Norman go into free agency without much of a fight and released another cornerback. Their recent game against Tampa Bay showcased all the cracks that are threatening to break their season in two. It may already be too late for any post-season play because no team has ever come from a 1-4 record to magically be great again. 

​With Cameron Newton’s recent racial criticisms and concussion, he doesn’t seem up for a turnaround. Next Sunday’s game against the Saints doesn’t offer much relief with or without came Newton. The future looks bleak for the franchise.
