In preparation for Sunday at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, an extension of driver protection SAFER barriers are being added. Kyle Busch’s monolithic wreck on February 21st at the Daytona International Speedway pushed for concern. NASCAR officials called an emergency meeting to discuss any additional precautions that could be taken to help prevent injuries in the future.
They will add 130 feet of protection onto the barriers already present in lieu of this weekend’s races. The SAFER barriers will also be extended in Daytona, Talladega, and Kentucky.
