![]() Faculty/Principals of students in the Birmingham School System: How would your students like to get to know some of the most influential NCAA athletes in the country? In an outreach and mentoring endeavor, the Birmingham Division of Youth Services (DYS) is holding a drawing for one school from this school system to have these athletes visit. This event comes on the heels of the City of Birmingham and the Birmingham Crossplex hosting the 2015 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championship on March 13-14th. If chosen, you can delineate whether you would like for the team to hold a mentoring seminar through a classroom environment or a larger assembly between the hours of 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on a chosen day. Each student within your school will also receive 2 free tickets to attend the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field National Championship in conjunction with one sweatband and an autographed card. In order to be included in the drawing, the principal of the elementary, K-8, or middle school is required to submit an interest letter by 4:00 PM, March 6, 2015. This must be processed on school letterhead. Also, the letter should specify if you desire a small classroom or assembly environment for the event. Please fax these letters of interest to 205-297-8139 or email them to dys@birminghamal.gov. You can also deliver the documentation in person to DYS. They are located at 1608 7th Avenue N in Birmingham, AL. The winner of the drawing will be announced on March 9, 2015. Still have questions about this unique, mentorship opportunity? You can contact the Division of Youth Services at 205-320-0879. To keep up-to-date on future DYS events, you can click the button below to be re-directed to their site! Good luck!
