What’s the deal with groups of people attempting to storm military bases with violence lately? First, there was the case of the two men in Illinois that were planning a bombing on a military base and then the events of yesterday occurred at the NSA. Two men, disguised as women attempted to storm the gate of the National Security Agency in Maryland during the morning hours of Monday. Citizens were quick to assume this was linked to terrorists. However, US officials quickly ruled that possibility out, and took a more general angle—drugs. There was cocaine later located in the vehicle, according to CNN. The odd event all started when two individuals refused to obey normal security measures that are put into practice when exiting or entering the gates of the NSA. Upon this refusal, barriers were expelled. The car still rushed the gate, so security officers began discharging bullets into the car. One of the suspects was hit and killed. The other was taken to a hospital for his injuries, along with one of the officers on the scene. The very secure facility at Fort Meade has direct correlations to the U.S. Army and other defense departments. More details are forthcoming.
