Disney appears to moving away from the cartoon animated genre that we all know and love lately. They’ve just announced there will now be a live remake of the Disney classic, “Mulan”, in up-coming years. The company already released their plans to re-make “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Jungle Book” with real characters.

For those unfamiliar with “Mulan”, it was a 1998 hit movie that detailed the life of a young girl who desired to step out of the stereotypical role of women in that day and age within China. She attested the fact that she must find a husband for a pre-arranged marriage even though this was the quintessential way of the times in her culture. She showed a courageous spirit as she volunteered to go in her father’s stead off to war as a solider. She created the façade of a young boy in order to do so. Ironically, despite her gender mask, she discovers more about herself than she ever knew during her journey in the cartoon movie.

The film made a historic mark on the movie industry at that time, raking in $304.3 million dollars throughout the world in the box office. Hopefully, the live action film will prove to be even bigger.

Interestingly enough, the new "Jungle Book" movie has plans for release in 2017, along with the “Beauty and the Beast” film we mentioned many months ago. There is also reportedly a new “Dumbo” movie in the works.

Excited movie fans?
