A Legend of Authorship "Lying, thinking Last night How to find my soul a home Where water is not thirsty And bread loaf is not stone I came up with one thing And I don't believe I'm wrong That nobody, But nobody Can make it out here alone. Alone, all alone Nobody, but nobody Can make it out here alone. There are some millionaires With money they can't use Their wives run round like banshees Their children sing the blues They've got expensive doctors To cure their hearts of stone. But nobody No, nobody Can make it out here alone. Alone, all alone Nobody, but nobody Can make it out here alone. Now if you listen closely I'll tell you what I know Storm clouds are gathering The wind is gonna blow The race of man is suffering And I can hear the moan, 'Cause nobody, But nobody Can make it out here alone. Alone, all alone Nobody, but nobody Can make it out here alone" -Alone, Maya Angelou The creative, authoritative, commanding, effervescent, writings of Maya Angelou banded races and cultures around the world throughout her 86 years. Angelou did not simply use her authorship to place words on a page. She did not just advocate hope, she personified it. Every inch of her being exuded a profound knowledge of the world around her. Angelou propelled readers and listeners to embrace the conceptual ideals of our time, even when we wanted to turn a blind eye. She challenged us to take notice of the stereotypical size debate with "Phenomenal Woman", while she highlighted the imperfections of a nation in poems like "A Brave and Startling Truth". Angelou bestowed a dignified element to the presidential inauguration of Bill Clinton in 1993 as she recited one of her poems to millions. However, Angelou did not reach success without hardships. Angelou overcame molestation and abuse as a child by utilizing her inflictions to motivate a nation. Maya Angelou passed on May 28, 2014 in her North Carolina home, after battling heart problems for an extended length of time. Although she received many well deserved accolades, such as being nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, she was always thankful for the little aspects of life. She leaves the world with a legacy of tenacity, perseverance, and love. "Listen to yourself and in that quietude you might hear the voice of God." - Maya Angelou The epitome of what an author should be, Grateful, dynamic, and expressive all in one scene. Honest and inspirational, while holding a passion of dynamic proportions. We look above waiting for an omniscient answer, But she told us to listen to God to remedy our own consummation. -ANR Leave your thoughts, tributes, and comments below for the chance to have them featured on our site.
