Did Someone Say Free Fun?

With Memorial Day kicking off the official barbecue season, the Magic City is gearing up for various outdoor events. Right on the heels of the "Symphony in the Park" series highlighted previously, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute will sponsor
the annual Juneteenth Culture Festival filled with versatile areas of free fun for the entire family.

The event will be held on Saturday,  June 7, 2014 at Kelly Ingram Park from 11:00 AM (CT) to 8:00 PM (CT).  The event will have numerous activities for children such as face painting and magic shows. For the adults, there will be an eclectic variation of musical performances. These include, but are not limited to: The Raw Jazz Trio, Take 7, Joyfulaires, MC Shaheed, and DJ Supreme. There will also be raffles and dance contests for prizes at the event.  Author Nick Patterson will be in attedance signing copies of his new book, "Birmingham Foot Soldiers", not to mention the soulful meals available for purchase from numerous vendors within the park.

We will be covering the event keeping you up to date on all of the activities going on.  If you are looking for an exciting event in warm summer rays, come out and experience the Magic City's annual Juneteenth Culture Festival!
